Stu Ungar is thought to be by most to the greatest No Limit Texas hold em Poker gambler ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champ was born in New York in 1953 and started playing poker before becomming a teenager.

The young gambler began playing gin and at the age of 10 had won his primary gin rummy tournament, while on vacation with his mother and father. By the age of 14 the little poker genius had turned professional and dropped out of school.

In ‘54 Stu Ungar entered the record books by succeeding 10 grand in a gin rummy tournament without losing a single hand, a record which still remains in New York these days.

The fast speaking superstar has been compared, in poker terms, to sporting superstars such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Stu had a real skill for wagering poker but despite his successes in Hold’em poker, he favored betting gin.

Stu once said that there might several day be a better No Limit Texas hold’em gambler than him but he could not see how anyone could ever be a far better gin gambler.

In ‘80 Stu Ungar was put on the world map as one of the very best Hold’em Poker players in the globe when he was crowned World Poker Champ for the 1st time. Astonishingly it was the 1st time he had played in the tournament.

The subsequent year he put aside any thoughts that it had been luck, by effectively protecting his title. And in ‘97 Stu set the record by winning his 3rd World poker championship.

Except this poker master also battled with substance abuse and a year right after winning his third title Stu Ungar past away in his hotel room. According to doctors, he had died from a heart attack which was triggered by his lifestyle.

Stu Ungar had began with nothing except his skill and expertise for the casino game which made this poker fantastic a millionaire quite a few times over.
