Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
