No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 where he loved gambling on numerous card games at a young age. He found himself getting very aggressive in these card games while playing his dad. After finishing Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to place college on hold for a little while and moved to New York City to participate in some formidable chess. While playing chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s initial two years were tough as he played extensive hours and lose a majority of the time. He earned some extra money by becoming an runner for the poker players. He judged he might better his game by balancing his life away from poker. He made an attempt to acquire more rest and focus more on poker.

The actual improvement in his game happened when he began playing at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the greatest gamblers would frequently challenge one another. He was able to access some of the greatest minds in chess. With their assistance, Howard would sharpen his logical thinking techniques. He applied these strategy ideas to the game of NL texas hold’em.

He also helped his sister Annie Duke learn poker. Annie Duke was an excellent student of the game as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper choice. Howard Lederer told Annie to move out to Las Vegas and compete in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie is one of the greatest women players the poker arena today. Howard Lederer moved to Vegas in Nineteen Ninety Three and played cash games for the next decade. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, he decided to play more tournaments.
