Web High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
August 10th, 2017 by Elliott

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve final poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players in the world. While gambling on online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the min takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
