NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
