NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
June 29th, 2022 by Elliott

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
